2024 A/L Exam Postponed Again Amid Adverse Weather Conditions

The Department of Examinations has announced a further postponement of the ongoing 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination due to the continued adverse weather conditions affecting Sri Lanka.

Commissioner General of Examinations, Amith Jayasundara, confirmed that the examination, which was initially suspended from November 27 to 29, will now be postponed until December 3, 2024. The exams are set to recommence on December 4, 2024.

The 2024 A/L examination, which began on November 25, faced interruptions after severe weather caused challenges for students traveling to examination centers.

The government stated yesterday (November 26) that this decision was made after careful assessment of the ongoing weather conditions and the situation in disaster-affected areas. A full review is expected after November 29 to ensure the safety and convenience of all candidates.

Candidates are urged to stay updated through official announcements from the Department of Examinations for any further changes.
