All Universities to Observe Student Holidays on May 5, 6, and 7, 2025

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that all universities, campuses, and higher education institutes across Sri Lanka will observe student holidays on the 5th, 6th, and 7th of May 2025. This temporary closure is to facilitate student participation in the upcoming Local Government Elections.

In an official letter issued by UGC Vice-Chairman Senior Professor Kapila Seneviratne, the directive was communicated to all Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and Directors of state universities and affiliated institutions. The notice confirms that students enrolled in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs are granted leave on these three days.

University administrations have been requested to take the necessary steps to implement the directive accordingly.
