AIESEC in University of Kelaniya Completes Summer Induction 26.27 with 88 New Members

AIESEC in University of Kelaniya successfully concluded its Summer Induction for the term 26.27 on the 8th of February 2026 at the Faculty of Computing and Technology, marking the beginning of a new journey for 88 passionate undergraduates.

As one of the world’s largest youth-led organizations, AIESEC continues to provide young people with leadership experiences that empower them to drive positive change. At the University of Kelaniya, the Local Committee conducts only two main recruitment cycles annually; the Winter Recruitment in August and the Summer Recruitment in February. This Summer Induction welcomed 88 new members into the AIESEC family, each ready to embark on a transformative leadership journey.

The induction was chaired by former AIESECer Akasha Wijesiriwardena, whose presence added both inspiration and nostalgia to the occasion. Drawing from personal experience, Akasha shared reflections on growth, resilience, and the lifelong impact of being part of AIESEC.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in a series of interactive teaching sessions designed to introduce them to the organization’s structure and operations. New members gained comprehensive insights into both front office and back office functions, understanding how each portfolio contributes to the overall performance and sustainability of the Local Committee. Each of these sessions provided clarity on how every role plays a vital part in delivering impactful experiences.

A highlight of the induction was the Human Library session, which featured four distinguished AIESEC alumni. In an open and conversational format, the alumni shared their personal journeys on how AIESEC shaped their mindset, strengthened their leadership skills, and prepared them for their current professional careers across diverse industries. Their stories served as powerful reminders that AIESEC is more than an extracurricular activity; it is a platform that molds confident, globally minded leaders.

The event was made possible through the dedication and meticulous planning of the Executive Board and Organizing Committee, whose efforts ensured a seamless and engaging experience for all attendees. Each team worked tirelessly to create an environment that was both welcoming and inspiring.

The Summer Induction 26.27 was not merely an orientation, it was the first step in a journey of growth, collaboration, and leadership. With 88 new members stepping forward, AIESEC in University of Kelaniya continues its mission of developing youth leadership potential and creating a lasting impact within the university and beyond.

As these young leaders begin their AIESEC journey, the future of the Local Committee shines brighter than ever.
