The International Water Conference on Climate Change and Environmental Pollution: Challenges and Solutions for Food Security and Public Health was successfully held on March 24th and 25th, 2025, at the Joint Research and Demonstration Center (JRDC). The event marked a significant milestone—the 10th anniversary of the JRDC—and celebrated a decade of impactful collaboration in water resource management and environmental sustainability.
The conference was graced by several distinguished guests, including His Excellency Mr. Qi Zhenhong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Sri Lanka; Mr. Ranjith Ariyarathne, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing; Prof. Terrence Madujith, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya; and Prof. Ranjith Pallegama, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya.
The event brought together a diverse group of global experts, including a 40-member Chinese delegation led by Prof. Jiuhui Qu, a recipient of the Nobel Sustainability Trust’s Sustainability Award. International speakers from Australia and Germany joined renowned Sri Lankan academics, fostering a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas, research, and innovative solutions to address critical environmental challenges affecting food security and public health.
Funded by the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), the conference underscored the importance of international scientific collaboration in advancing sustainable development goals and building resilient ecosystems for future generations.
