The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society of IIT proudly concluded its flagship robotics competition, MicroMaze 2.0, with a spectacular Grand Finale held on August 24, 2025, at the Royal MAS Arena. The event marked the climax of months of preparation, innovation, and teamwork by undergraduates across Sri Lanka, bringing together the nation’s brightest young minds in robotics and automation.
The Grand Finale witnessed the participation of 80+ teams representing over 25+ universities from across the country, making MicroMaze 2.0 a truly national-level competition. The event featured two electrifying stages – the Qualifier Round and the Final Round, both held on the same day. In the qualifiers, teams battled fiercely to secure a place among the Top 10 finalists, who then faced the ultimate challenge: navigating the technically demanding final maze with their autonomous micromouse robots.

The finale was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the Chief Guest, Mr. Peshan Sampath, and the Guest of Honour, Mr. Jude Xavier, who emphasized the importance of innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving in shaping the future of technology.
The judging panel featured six distinguished experts from academia and industry, ensuring a fair and insightful evaluation of the competition. The panel included Mr. Muditha Ranasinghe, Mr. Chamal Bandara, Mr. Kanishka Wijayasekara, Mr. Sandun Wijayarathne, Mr. Kasun Kavishka, and Mr. Anuradha Kumarasinghe.
Their collective expertise brought credibility and depth to the competition, inspiring participants with valuable feedback.
