The inauguration of the orientation program for the 2024 intake of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was held on January 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Bandaranayake Hall. The ceremony was attended by several distinguished figures, including Senior Prof. Pathmalal Manage, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Mr. A.B. Weliwita, Registrar of the University; Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; along with deans from other faculties, department heads, and academic staff.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Professor Sepala Samarasekara, Chairman of the Orientation Committee, who introduced the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to the new students. Following this, Senior Prof. Pathmalal Manage and Mr. A.B. Weliwita, Registrar, addressed the students, sharing insights into the university’s culture.In his address, Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, spoke to the students about their academic journey, stressing the importance of strategic planning to achieve success both academically and professionally.
