Inauguration of the Association of Engineering Linguists: Bridging Engineering and Language

On January 30, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering officially launched the Association of Engineering Linguists (AEL) in a distinguished ceremony held at the Green Boardroom. The event was attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Chandana Perera, Heads of Departments, and esteemed faculty members, marking the establishment of a dynamic forum that connects the fields of engineering and language through collaboration, creativity, and communication.

During the ceremony, the top board and executive members were formally inducted, receiving their badges as a symbol of their commitment to leading AEL toward its vision. A key highlight was the debut of the quarterly newsletter, The Quill, a vibrant platform that will feature faculty updates, student accomplishments, advancements in engineering technology, literary works, and academic insights. AEL aims to be more than just an association—it is a space for students to enhance their communication skills, express creativity, and appreciate the vital role of language in the professional world. This marks the beginning of an exciting journey, and the future promises numerous opportunities for growth and development. Ms. Gayanthi Mendis and Ms. Nethmi Udara, the Lecturers-in-Charge of AEL, will guide the association, supporting its mission and vision.
