SLIIT and Deakin University have introduced Sri Lanka’s first Australian Bachelor’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI), marking a major milestone in higher education. The program was officially launched in a ceremony attended by distinguished guests, including H.E. Paul Stephens, the Australian High Commissioner; Professor Bas Baskaran, Pro Vice Chancellor for International Research Partnerships at Deakin University; and SLIIT officials, including Professor Lakshman Ratnayake, Chancellor/Chairman, and Professor Nimal Rajapakse, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Provost.This three-year program, delivered in Sri Lanka with faculty from Deakin University, provides students with a global learning experience aligned with Deakin’s academic standards. The curriculum covers AI, machine learning, robotics, and data science, with opportunities for hands-on industry projects. High-performing students can receive merit-based scholarships of up to 25% of tuition fees, and the program offers the flexibility to transfer to Australia to complete their studies, making high-quality education more accessible to Sri Lankans.
