The University of Peradeniya entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Engineering Services (Pvt) Limited (CESL) and the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) on 22nd December 2025 at the Senate Room, marking a significant step toward enhancing industry-oriented research collaboration.
The partnership aims to bridge academia, construction, and consultancy sectors, fostering collaborative research, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange. The MoU places strong emphasis on ensuring that research outcomes contribute meaningfully to public benefit, sustainability, and national economic growth.
The signing ceremony was attended by Eng. A. P. Jayatissa, Chairman of the Boards of Directors of CECB and CESL; Eng. S. A. U. C. Siriwardhana, General Manager of CECB; Eng. S. S. A. Kalugaldeniya and Eng. Mihira Gunasena, Corporate Additional General Managers of CECB; and Eng. S. B. A. D. Semasinghe, Chief Executive Officer of CESL.
Representing the University of Peradeniya were Prof. Terrence Madhujith, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Lilantha Samaranayake, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Kushan Wijesundara, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering; along with members of the academic staff.
This strategic collaboration is expected to significantly strengthen industry–university linkages while positioning Sri Lanka as a regional hub for innovation in applied engineering research and consultancy.
