Planting Seeds of Hope for a Greener Tomorrow
On November 29, 2024, the University of Colombo hosted a Tree Planting Ceremony to mark Asia Laboratory Animal Day. The event was organized in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association for Laboratory Animal Science (SLALAS) and the Base for Enthusiasts of Environmental Science and Zoology (BEEZ), with guidance from the Asian Federation of Laboratory Animal Science Associations (AFLAS).
Held near the Mini Urban Forest Area at the Faculty of Science, the ceremony celebrated the essential role of laboratory animals in scientific research and human health. It also served as a poignant reminder of our shared commitment to sustainability, compassion, and the ethical treatment of animals in scientific advancements.
