Professor I.M. Karunathilaka has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo. The appointment was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The official appointment letter was presented to Professor Karunathilaka by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat on the 23rd of May.
Professor Karunathilaka holds the distinction of being the first Professor of Medical Education at the University of Colombo. He has been a member of the university’s academic staff since June 2000.
A proud alumnus of the University of Colombo, he also holds academic credentials from the University of Dundee in Scotland, United Kingdom.
