Ven. Dr. Gallelle Sumanasiri Thera has been appointed as the Chancellor of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, according to the Presidential Media Division. The official appointment letter was presented on February 14 at the Presidential Secretariat by Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President.
Ven. Dr. Gallelle Sumanasiri Thera is the Chief Incumbent of Harankahawa Molagoda Rajamaha Viharaya and serves as the Kandy District Secretary of the All-Ceylon Shasanarakshaka Bala Mandalaya. He has also previously held the position of Vice-Chancellor at the Homagama Pali and Buddhist University.
The ceremony was attended by Ven. Denike Ananda Thera, Ven. Karagaswewa Vajira Thera, Ven. Vitharandeniye Nanda Thera, along with several other monks and laypersons. Following the appointment, the Secretary to the President engaged in discussions with the Maha Sangha and other attendees.
