AIESEC in University of Colombo is set to host the third edition of its flagship leadership development event, “Leader in You,” on July 18, 2026, at the New Arts Theatre (NAT), University of Colombo.
The event, now in its third consecutive year, is expected to bring together 500 participants, including Advanced Level students, immediate school leavers and university undergraduates from across the island. It continues AIESEC in University of Colombo’s commitment to nurturing leadership potential among young people at a formative stage in their academic and personal
development.
Leader in You has steadily established itself as one of the most distinguished student-oriented events organized by AIESEC in University of Colombo, and this year marks its third consecutive iteration. The delegate profile extends beyond Advanced Level students and immediate school leavers to also include university undergraduates, reflecting the programme’s broader appeal across different stages of academic life. For Advanced Level students and immediate school leavers, the programme offers an early opportunity to cultivate leadership competencies well before they transition into university or professional life, an exposure many young people otherwise receive minimally during their secondary education. For undergraduates, Leader in You serves a different but equally valuable purpose, offering a platform to refine existing leadership skills, gain fresh perspectives through interaction with younger delegates, and strengthen the kind of practical, people-oriented competencies that complement their academic and future professional pursuits.
A core feature of the event is its Outbound Training (OBT) segment, which gives participants hands-on leadership and team building experience. Through structured outdoor activities and group challenges, the OBT component encourages participants to step outside their comfort zones, collaborate under pressure, and apply leadership concepts in real, practical settings rather than purely theoretical ones.
This year’s programme will also feature guest speakers brought in to motivate and inspire the student participants. Their sessions are expected to add a fresh dimension to the event, offering students real world insight and encouragement as they explore their own leadership journeys.
Having successfully run for two consecutive years, Leader in You has established itself as a notable platform for youth leadership engagement within the University of Colombo community.
